The trail leads from the upper stream of the Fláje creek to the mouth of the channel to the Freiberger Mulde in the German Clausnitz . The canal is a rare technical monument , the only one of its kind in the country, and was used for water transport of timber .

The first public walking along the trail officially began on the border between the Czech Republic and Saxony, at the newly built wooden bridge across the border Bright Stream / Rauschenbach . The place is located near the Horní Ves which belongs under the municipality Český Jiřetín. The bridge serves as a new border crossing and is part of the 18 km long cross-border  tourist trail. The trail is followed by information boards describing the history of building the canal, timber floating, usage of the timber in iron works in Freiberg etc.
