The former abbey smithy was most probably the oldest and largest smithy in Grünhain. The building of the restaurant that stands there today was probably built in 1632 on the foundation walls of the burnt-out ruins of the old abbey smithy. In 1994. the Jelinek family opened their guest-house and a bed-and-breakfast business with four double rooms. Exposed old walls and rustic beams lend the house a unique atmosphere. Even the kitchen, which changes its dishes depending on the season, is evidence of the history of the time-honoured building. The Erzgebirge is a border area.
Swimming fun and mining relics. The Herrmann family lovingly converted their home from a house to a restaurant and guest-house. The Knappenschänke is recommended to anyone who is looking for calm and a family atmosphere, with the opportunity for many interesting outings. The mountain town of Annaberg-Buchholz, home to Adam Ries, is nearby with its many attractions, and Thermalbad Wiesenbad has its inviting health spa. Not far from our hotel, you will find the "Wunderbar Geschick" mine.
With its wood ceilings, the decorative "light spiders" and the green tiled stove, the dining area radiates a comfortable atmosphere. The menu, designed in line with local tradition, promises Erzgebirge meals and good, plain fare. Gourmet weeks await you, offering seasonal delights ranging from meat butchered in-house to potato weeks and "Neunerlei" at Christmas time. And after a good meal comes the Anton Günther schnapps, made in-house. Anton Günther (1876 - 1937) wrote many of the most beautiful songs of the Erzgebirge.

The inn, which is located in the Stollberg area of Gablenz, is a jewel, inside and out: the building has a special flair, mainly thanks to its heritage-protected art nouveau hall. The warm hospitality cultivated there in the 19th century has been maintained to the present day, and the emphasis is on simple cuisine made from local produce. The Gerd Hecht's specialities are in-house butchering, horse meat and game. Depending on what the forest has to offer, the owner puts boar, venison or deer on the menu.
